Not content with just performing metaphysical healing treatments of various types and selling related merchandise, the owners of Psychic Reality on Georgia Street are now also teaching classes and have created an art gallery.
The couple recently found what they think is the perfect venue for this, just up the street from the store, so Michael Todd and Ginny Carlson-Todd say they’re going to feature local artist Jeff Snell as their first offering.
“Last June, Michael and I started teaching beginning classes, Meditation I and Meditation II — Psychic Tools and Healing I at the Odd Fellows building at 342 Georgia Street,” Carlson-Todd said. “During that time we were actively looking for a classroom size space close to our store. Finally, in November we found our spot at the Historic City Hall building at 715 A Marin Street, a part of the Temple Art Lofts.”
Just a block and a half from the couple’s store, at 345 Georgia St., the classroom is across from the Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum. Classes there started in January, they said.
“Because our space housed the Vallejo Fire Department for 50 years, we have these beautiful 15-foot high walls,” Carlson-Todd said. “During the planning stage, Michael and I decided the space would also work as a Metaphysical Art Gallery. We are featuring local artists from our vast Vallejo art community who are interested in creating revenue through the sale of their art work.”
Jeff Snell, the first local artist to be featured, says his art nearly always incorporates the natural world.
“I grew up in a rural setting outside Baltimore, Md., surrounded by woods and small streams, where hours were consumed trudging through dense thickets, climbing trees and running over grassy fields,” he said. “I have always had a deep connection to the natural world and it shows in my work.”
Even in his most abstract creations, “one can feel that living things are being depicted or expressed,” he said.
A hint of Asian art can also often be sensed in Snell’s work, he said, likely a function of what he picked up from the fine art being sold and collected in his family’s antique business.
“He has selected pieces that will work in our new space,” she said. “We will be handling the sales at Psychic Reality and anyone wishing to get a closer look can give us a call at (707) 558-0535 and we will be there within a few minutes (contact info is also posted on the door).”
The couple’s next session of psychic classes starts next week, with Meditation I on Tuesday Feb. 16 and Meditation II on Wednesday, the 17th, Carlson-Todd said.
“We are also offering an ongoing Trance Medium Healing Clinic, usually on the third Friday of each month,” but this time on Feb. 19 and March 25 due to scheduling conflicts, she said.
“This clinic is a drop-in space with no appointment necessary, and donations are gladly accepted,” she said. “We offer free Aura Healings from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday during Farmers Market. The Trance Medium healings are different and have to be experienced.”
